What we’re looking forWe are looking for an SEO technician who can dive under the hood of Google’s algorithms, diagnose issues, identify opportunities and formulate strategies to streamline performance. You need to be able to see the whole picture and the little details, moving between best practice SEO and big thinking, unafraid to take informed risks. We don’t expect you to be a master of SEO, but we hope you’ll reflect our commitment of lifelong learning, finding new ways to solve old problems, with or without the help of digital tools. While your technical SEO skills will shine, you will also be well-spoken and comfortable translating SEO-speak into layman’s terms over Zoom or face-to-face. Remote work can be tricky, but you’re always ready to take your clients on a journey through SEO metrics, exploring how they impact the business holistically and specifically. You’re excited to help our non-technical clients get on board with our recommendations through clear-cut communication and actionable recommendations and strategies. SEO is not an island, and while we’re a proud remote team packed with SEMs who knows our business, we do not work alone. You’ll be joining SEMs, content specialists and digital marketing strategists in problem solving conversations, strategy chats and zoom exchanges, ensuring we help each other grow. What about experience? Your background will include experience in researching, communicating, deploying and measuring SEO campaigns - we don’t focus on years in the biz, but the results and potential each person brings to the table. If you’ve only worked in the industry one year and you’ve achieved some amazing things - don’t hold back your application. Our non-negotiable: You must be an Australian citizen or permanent resident.
What you'll be doingYou will be an integral part of the close-knit SEO team and seen as the helpful, subject matter expert by providing SEO knowledge and strategic guidance to a wide range of clients - everything from airlines and department stores, to owner-operated businesses. You will start by unpacking a client’s marketing problems and learning about their customers through keyword, competitor and audience research, utilising a suite of tools you’re already familiar with, including Screaming Frog SEO Spider, ahrefs, Google Search Console, and Google Analytics, just to name a few. Then you’ll be deep-diving into the client’s website, identifying current SEO problems and opportunities. From your insights, you will be strategising with your team members to create an actionable, effective SEO plan. Coming up with solutions is only half of the job. Helping your clients execute your SEO vision is just as important. You will be explaining your SEO recommendations to an audience with mixed SEO experience using a variety of formats, such as:
- creating and responding to JIRA tickets with developers
- translating issues for a non-technical audience in a technical audit
- preparing and presenting a SEO 101 training session
- You will attempt to reverse engineer a competitor’s SEO strategy so the client can understand what their competitors are doing right, doing wrong and identify opportunity gaps.
- You will be building and maintaining dashboards and reports across a range of SEO metrics that match up with client goals. You will monitor and analyse the numbers and report back to your team on any insights or anomalies found and what your recommended next steps are.
Your time will be split across:
- Technical 50%
- Account and Project Management 20%
- Data Analysis & Reporting 20%
- Content and Linking 10%

Benefits and Perks
In return for your passion, drive, and SEO knowledge, we can offer you:
No more commuting! FMD have embraced a fully remote working environment. We are firm believers that high quality, collaborative work is achieved by the team members, and not by the physical location of their desks.
Connection to a fantastic culture of brilliantly minded, hard-working, honest digital marketers who are masters of their game and are more than happy to share their knowledge.
Flexible hours. We understand that life and work commitments sometimes clash, we also understand that sometimes you just want an afternoon off to sit in the sunshine! All staff are welcome to use our hassle-free flexitime program to make life that little bit better.
Long-term, happy clients, whose businesses give us plenty of variety and challenge the team to grow our skills and capabilities.
Attractive salary package that rewards you for your talent and experience, along with a remote work allowance that allows you to design and maintain your own workspace.
Avoid project fatigue and stay engaged, working across multiple industries and client accounts. You’ll get to know brands inside out, understanding the unique needs of the business and how those factors play into the results we present in our meetings.
Boredom is the death of creativity and innovation, so we encourage our people to develop a range of skills and challenge their comfort zones.
Progress, don’t stagnate – we know agency life can feel like a closed circuit sometimes. Once you’ve reached a certain point, there’s nowhere else for you to go and nothing to do. FMD is different – we work with our employees to develop a progression roadmap, ensuring there’s always a next step ahead.
